OCC Debuts New Website for Job Seekers and Employers

OCC has updated its career placement services website for alumni, students, employers and community members. College Central Network, accessed through this link, is the college’s new official resume and job posting service. business handshake

Students, alumni and employers can create an account profile to:
• Search for full-time, part-time, internship and co-op job opportunities easily and efficiently
• Create and upload student resumes and career portfolios to make available to prospective employers
• Access event announcements, career advice documents, podcasts, videos and articles

The website went live April 1. It requires registering with an email address. The site is open to OCC students, alumni, employers.

As part of Economic and Workforce Development efforts, the website also allows any member of the community to post a resume and career portfolio and search for a job or post a job.

“It’s part of the branding effort for OCC – that “Community is our middle name,’” said Willie L. Lloyd, Director of Placement Services & Cooperative Education.

The Placement Services office is contacting all employers who have advertised jobs with OCC in the past—between 5,000 and 6,000—to let them know about posting jobs in the new system.

So far, 100 employers have posted jobs on the new site. In addition to posting resumes, students can post portfolios to showcase visual work, Lloyd said.

In addition to searching jobs in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties, job seekers have access to a national jobs database, Lloyd said.

College Central Network has a national job pool to the tune of 500,000 job listings a day, Lloyd said. Students can also search for internship and co-op opportunities. The service is free to users. For more information, contact Willie Lloyd at WLLLOYD@oaklandcc.edu or (248) 232-4142.
