OCC Foundation Board Member Recognized as Distinguished Volunteer

Oakland Community College Foundation Board member Jan Dolan was recognized as a Distinguished Volunteer by the Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater Detroit Chapter’s at its National Philanthropy Day Dinner last night.Jan Dolan

Dolan has been a member of the OCC Foundation Board of Directors since 1996 and is a consummate ambassador for the College. She established the Mark R. Dolan Memorial Endowed Scholarship through the Foundation in fall of 2011 and continues to encourage others to support educational opportunities for OCC students.

“Jan is a steadfast advocate for accessible, affordable education in Oakland County,” said OCC Chancellor Timothy Meyer. “From her 18 years on the OCC Foundation Board of Directors to her endowed scholarship, we are grateful for her service and generosity.”

Dolan was state representative from 1989 to 1996, Farmington Hills City Councilwoman from 1976 to 1988 and Mayor of Farmington Hills in 1978 and 1985. She also chairs or sits on a variety of boards including the Botsford Commons Seniors Community, Farmington Rotary, Michigan Campaign Finance Network, Area Agency on Aging 1-B, League of Women Voters and the American Association of University Women (AAUW).

Every November, more than 200 Association of Fundraising Professionals chapters across the country observe National Philanthropy Day to recognize the contributions of philanthropy and volunteerism of those people active in local nonprofits.
