Oakland Community College’s Auburn Hills Campus is now offering the Microsoft IT Academy Program.
OCC’s Microsoft IT Academy Program provides essential computing skills for students in an instructor-led environment intended for IT professionals and developers who build, support, and implement solutions using Microsoft technologies. It also provides curriculum and training that college and career-bound students need to be successful.
“This is a rigorous process and great accomplishment for the OCC Auburn Hills campus,” said Bernadette M. McAllister, a faculty member in OCC’s Computer Information Systems (CIS) Department.
Upon successful completion of Computer Information Systems 2232 Fundamentals of System Support, students will receive validation of technology skills for Microsoft Technology Associate Software and Microsoft Certifications Solutions Associate/Expert.
“Students are excited about this new offering,” said McAllister, as Administrator for the Microsoft IT Academy. She participated in more than 10 learning sessions and conferences for the Auburn Hills Campus to become eligible to participate in the Microsoft IT Academy.
The Microsoft IT Academy curriculum provides unlimited online access to more than 400 courses. OCC CIS students now have digital access to more than 600 technology books and free Microsoft Online Learning courses and demonstrations. With the certification, students taking CIS courses at OCC’s Auburn Hills Campus will be qualified to pursue a career path in business technology. Students taking the courses will receive price reductions on Microsoft Certification exams.
OCC’s Auburn Hills Campus has more than six technology classrooms providing hands-on learning environments for CIS students. The campus features extensive A+ Hardware, A+ Software and a networking lab with the latest equipment used in the information technology field.
With five campuses throughout Oakland County, OCC is celebrating its 50th year. OCC is the largest community college in Michigan and the 25th largest in the nation. It offers degrees and certificates in approximately 100 career fields and university transfer degrees in business, science and the liberal arts.
