OCC Alumna Creates Successful Startup For Busy Parents And Busier Kids

Kidz Cab Aireal TaylorSpawned from an idea in a 2014 OCC marketing class, alumna Aireal Taylor launched Kidz Cab one year later. The startup is dedicated to transporting children ages 4-16 to and from school and extracurricular activities.

“I had a project at OCC where I had to come up with an idea for a business,” said Taylor. “While brainstorming with my husband, I noticed that there wasn’t a service that helped working parents get their kids to after-school activities.”

Little did she know that her class project would become a full-fledged business within a few short years of receiving her associate’s degree at OCC and bachelor’s degree at Oakland University.

With its debut in the greater Troy area, Kidz Cab booked to maximum capacity in just two short weeks for fall 2015. The business is designed to support parents and ensure every child using the service has safe and reliable transportation.

All Kidz Cab vehicles are company owned and maintained, and equipped with safety features such as booster seats and maps with real-time vehicle tracking. All chauffeurs are chauffeur-licensed, extensively screened and employed by Kidz Cab. In addition, all chauffeurs must complete the rigorous Kidz Cab Child Care Certification Training Program including training in basic life support, child safety seat use and car safety rules.

Taylor hopes the booming start means she can continue expanding Kidz Cab outside of Troy.

“I would love to see a row of Kidz Cabs lined up outside of schools all across the state. Expanding outside of Michigan is one of my goals,” said Taylor. “If we’re already booked for the year, I’m confident there is a huge demand from parents in other parts of the country.”
