Oakland Community College (OCC) welcomes Eileen Husband as general counsel, formerly general counsel and vice president of legal services at Henry Ford College.
Husband brings more than 15 years of local and statewide community college experience to OCC, including general counsel to the Michigan Community College Risk Management Authority representing its 21-member colleges throughout the state while partner at Cummings, McClorey, Davis and Acho.
“We are delighted to have the caliber of professional experience that Eileen brings to the College as an instructor and general counsel for higher education, public entities and business.” said OCC Chancellor Timothy Meyer. “She has represented many of our colleagues across Michigan including work at OCC and as a resident of Oakland County, we are happy she is bringing this depth of experience to her home community.”
Prior to her work in higher education, Husband was general counsel at Little Caesar Enterprises, Inc., onsite counsel for Greektown Casino and assistant general counsel for the Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART).
A Novi resident, Husband has received numerous honors and awards including the prestigious “Women in the Law Award” from the Michigan Lawyers’ Weekly in 2011. She was also named a “Super Lawyer” in 2014 by Thomson Reuters, a “Top labor and Employment Attorney” in 2015 by Detroit Business Magazine; and was a contributor to the first edition of “Employment Law in Michigan, An Employer’s Guide,” Institute for Continuing Legal Education-University of Michigan.
“I am excited to join OCC’s outstanding leadership team in supporting OCC’s mission in the community and being a champion for the College in the region,” said Husband. “It is a truly a great honor to be part of the continuing tradition of Oakland Community College.”
Husband earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from University of Michigan and a Juris Doctor of Law degree from Detroit College of Law.
