Oakland Community College (OCC) is pleased to announce former director of finance and investments at Macomb Community College, Bobbie Remias, CPA, will join OCC as interim vice chancellor for administrative services, effective July 17. Remias assumes the duties formerly held by OCC’s Interim Chancellor, Peter Provenzano, Jr.
Remias is a certified public accountant with a strong finance background. She started at Macomb Community College in 2003 as director of financial services and promoted to director of finance and investments in 2010. Her responsibilities included managing college and Foundation treasury management functions and investment portfolios; overseeing the Financial Services and the Financial Aid departments; and, periodically serving as adjunct faculty for traditional and online accounting courses.
“I am thrilled to have Bobbie serve in this interim role; she is a great addition to our team.” Provenzano said. “Her unique skillset which includes financial leadership and teaching in the higher education sector will benefit OCC’s administrative operations. Bobbie will seamlessly continue our emphasis on fiscal accountability and enhancing student success.”
Remias, a Shelby Township resident, has over 30 years of progressive finance and accounting experience in higher education, K-12, manufacturing, and the service industries, including work at accounting firm, Plante Moran.
“It is an honor to be joining the team at Oakland Community College,” said Remias. “I truly believe in the mission and value of community colleges and look forward to working together to strategically prepare and help lead OCC into the future.”
She holds a master’s degree in professional accountancy from Walsh College and a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University. Remias is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Michigan Community College Business Officials Association (MCCBOA) and an active participant in higher education leadership.
